This Ludwigsburg porcelain figurine—“The Musical Couple”—was produced by the Royal Ludwigsburg Manufactory, Germany, exemplifying late-Rococo scènes galantes. The gentleman, in a magenta coat and striped waistcoat, plays the mandolin before a lady seated at a harp, emblems of harmony and refined conversation in 18th-century decorative arts.
Finely hand-modeled and hand-painted in polychrome enamels, the piece shows delicate applied porcelain flowers across the base and gilded highlights to the harp and garments. The factory mark appears under the base, confirming origin and period authenticity.
