More information

Rare Les Islettes faience dish, crafted in France during the 18th century, is an outstanding example of French earthenware artistry and chinoiserie decoration.
Hand-painted with vibrant glazes, this magnificent Les Islettes faience dish features an oriental-inspired scene depicting a seated figure wearing colorful robes and a green conical hat, smoking a long pipe amidst stylized foliage and ornamental flowers.

The rim is delicately adorned with reddish and green branches that frame the central composition, and a small brush-painted insect adds the charming detail so typical of Les Islettes faience production of the period. On the reverse, the kiln marks and firing supports remain visible, authentic traces of the traditional artisanal process.

The piece is in excellent condition, showing only minimal craquelure typical of antique faience. A subtle chromatic restoration on the rim has been carefully integrated, preserving the original tones of the main figure and surrounding motifs.

Dishes from Les Islettes with such well-preserved chinoiserie scenes are increasingly rare and highly sought after by collectors, interior designers, and antique enthusiasts worldwide. This 18th-century Les Islettes faience dish represents a valuable acquisition—ideal both for refined home décor and for distinguished collections of French ceramics.
