    French Art Deco Lamp Signed “M. Font” – Portoro Marble, Silvered Metal, and Frosted Glass – ca. 1925–1935

    Exceptional French Art Deco table lamp, produced between 1925 and 1935, signed by the sculptor “M. Font” on both metallic figures flanking the central axis. This work perfectly captures the decorative spirit of the Art Deco movement: stylized geometry, formal symmetry, luxurious materials, and sculptural design.

    The composition features two stylized tropical fish in silvered metal (likely spelter or zamac), both signed in relief, framing a central frosted glass globe. The ensemble rests on a base of black Portoro marble, known for its rich golden veining—a material especially prized in high-end design during the period.

    The double signature suggests a limited production or one carried out under the direct supervision of the artist, enhancing the piece’s collectability. Lamps of this kind were often acquired by galleries and interior designers in interwar Paris and remain highly sought-after for their material quality and sculptural character.

    Very good overall condition, with light and honest signs of age.

    – The silvered metal retains most of its original finish, with natural patina and light surface wear on raised areas, reinforcing its authenticity without compromising the aesthetics.
