    Fine faience dish from Les Islettes, France, 18th century – “chinoiserie” – 10,6 in.
    Magnificent faïence earthenware dish from the renowned manufacture of Les Islettes, dated to the last quarter of the 18th century.
    Hand-decorated in vibrant glazes with an oriental-inspired “chinoiserie” scene, it depicts a figure seated on a rock, dressed in colorful robes and green conical hat, while smoking a long pipe amidst stylized foliage and ornamental flowers.
    The brim of the plate has branches with leaves in reddish and green tones, harmoniously framing the central composition. A small brush-painted insect near the rim adds a touch of charm characteristic of the decorative repertoire of the period.
    On the reverse, the kiln marks and firing supports are clearly visible , authentic evidence of the traditional artisanal process.
    Excellent state of preservation for its age. It presents fine craquelure of the glaze, typical of the earthenware of this manufacture. There is a slight chromatic restoration on the rim, well integrated. The central character and the rock on which he sits have not been restored, maintaining their original colors, vivid and perfectly defined.
    This type of pieces from Les Islettes with well-preserved orientalizing scenes are increasingly rare on the international market. Highly valued by antique dealers, high-end interior designers and discerning collectors.
    French ceramics of the 18th century are experiencing a phase of constant revaluation. This plate represents a sure value acquisition, ideal both to enrich a collection and to show off in prestigious decorative projects.
