    This pair of e picault cassolettes represents a refined example of 19th-century French decorative art by Émile Louis Picault (1833–1915). The covered vases show balanced proportions and a clear neoclassical vocabulary, ideal for a mantelpiece or formal console.

    Each cassolette is baluster-shaped, cast in patinated spelter with gilt-bronze accents, and enriched with fluting, vegetal motifs and laurel wreaths. The bodies display crisp reliefs with classical scenes inspired by Ancient Greece and Rome, expressing Picault’s taste for heroic and allegorical subjects.
