Delft plate 18th century, an exquisite example of Dutch tin-glazed earthenware produced in Delft during the third quarter of the eighteenth century. This piece presents a perfectly balanced composition that reflects the decorative transition toward a fully Rococo vocabulary, in which the floral repertoire gains both prominence and refinement.
This fine Delft plate 18th century was created in a light-colored body covered with an opaque tin glaze and stands out for the purity of its white surface and the superb modulation of its cobalt blues, applied with a confident and accomplished hand. The central motif—an elegant fluted basket overflowing with stylized flowers—is framed by crisp outlines and graded shading that give the scene notable depth and volume.
The decoration on the rim, organized through concentric fillets and a softly flowing garland of scrolls, introduces visual rhythm without competing with the central composition. This balance between structure and ornament is characteristic of Delft plate 18th century production ca. 1760–1780, a period in which workshops blended traditional Delft idioms with emerging European decorative sensibilities.
The reverse shows fine kiln pitting and a nearly complete glaze, both technically consistent with its period. The overall condition is strong: the surface retains the vibrancy of the blue, and the minor traces of use are fully compatible with the age of the piece.
