More information

Delft blue plates, produced in Delft (The Netherlands) circa 1750–1770 and executed in tin-glazed earthenware. Hand-painted in cobalt blue underglaze with a central baluster vase filled with a rococo floral bouquet, framed by a continuous stylized floral border along the rim. The controlled brushwork, tonal modulation, and balanced composition are characteristic of mid-18th-century Delftware.

Both plates display a high degree of compositional symmetry, with nearly identical floral arrangements and line execution, confirming their creation as an original matched pair — an uncommon feature in Delft wares of this period.

Surface features include fine craquelure, glossy tin glaze, and small rim frits and enamel losses typical of 18th-century Delft. The fully glazed convex underside preserves its original kiln pinholes and firing imperfections, with no visible restorations or structural issues. Together, these Delft blue plates offer a coherent and historically representative example of mid-century Dutch blue-and-white craftsmanship.
