Art Deco Porcelain Figurine by D. Charol for Rosenthal, Germany c.1925
An exceptional Art Deco porcelain figurine, designed by celebrated sculptor Dorothea Charol and produced by Rosenthal in Bavaria around 1925. Known for her refined, modernist interpretations of the female form, Charol created some of Rosenthal’s most iconic Art Deco figures.
This particular model, often referred to as “Spring Dancer”, depicts a young woman in mid-motion, arms gracefully lifted in a fluid, expressive pose. Her form is defined by sculptural rhythm and elegance, with stylized movement captured in every curve. The figure is decorated with hand-painted gold floral accents, applied with precision and taste.
The base is embossed with “D. Charol” and bears the green “Rosenthal Bavaria” mark, used between 1923 and 1927, along with the model number 211. These authentic details confirm the origin and period of the piece.
Excellent condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs. The porcelain glaze remains vibrant and the gilding is remarkably intact. A well-preserved, investment-grade piece.
