Antique sunburst mirror in hand-carved and gilded wood, Portugal, circa 1925–1935. This elegant Iberian Art Deco piece features a radial composition of alternating flat and lanceolate rays carved with crisp leaf veins and bead details around the sight edge. The original beveled glass retains light speckling consistent with age.
Executed in solid wood with traditional bole-and-gilt finish, the mirror shows a beautifully matured patina: warm gold with subtle umber accents in the recesses. Age-related wear is present and part of its charm—minor abrasions to the gilding, scattered worm holes on the backboard, and small losses to several ray tips (notably to three outer points). A historic repair is visible at one junction on the rim where the rays meet the inner ring; remnants of old adhesive confirm period maintenance. The structure is stable and ready to hang.
A refined wall statement for collectors, decorators, and galleries, this antique sunburst mirror bridges Portuguese craftsmanship and the clean geometry prized in early 20th-century design. Its moderate scale suits entrances, above consoles, or layered salon walls.
